Datun Julut Performed by Rosline Sandai, Malaysia Datun Julut is performed when welcoming guests by the "interior people of Borneo" or the "Orang Ulu." The sequence of beads on the dress and other beaded accessories reflect the highly skilled beadwork among the "Orang Ulu" women. The graceful movement of the hornbill feathers is accompanied by the five-string lute-like musical instrument known as the "Sape." The dance transmits you to the tranquillity and stillness of the rainforest. |

Malaysia Dance Potpourri Performed by Universiti Malaysia Sarawak Dance Potpourri depicts the Culture Heritage of Sarawak, the Land of Hornbill, that comprises the major ethnic groups, namely the Bidayuh, Chinese, Iban, Indian, Malay, and Melanau. The dance symbolizes the welcoming of guests of honor to the state. This dance is performed by twenty students from the Cultural Unit of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak. |
