Datun Julut
Performed by Rosline Sandai, Malaysia

Datun Julut is performed when welcoming guests by the "interior people of Borneo" or the "Orang Ulu." The sequence of beads on the dress and other beaded accessories reflect the highly skilled beadwork among the "Orang Ulu" women. The graceful movement of the hornbill feathers is accompanied by the five-string lute-like musical instrument known as the "Sape." The dance transmits you to the tranquillity and stillness of the rainforest.
