Jeanne McCarty

Jeanne McCarty is helping to fulfill conservationist Dr. Jane Goodall's dream of creating a powerful force for positive change - a network of young people in communities all around the world who are inspired and empowered to make a difference for people, animals and the environment. As Vice President of the Jane Goodall Institute, she leads the Roots & Shoots program (www.rootsandshoots.org), which has groups in all 50 U.S. states and more than 100 countries.

She offers expertise on youth volunteerism and service-learning, using the web for positive change, youth leadership development, and conservation education. In addition to her work with the Nature Action Collaborative for Children, she serves on advisory councils for Warren Wilson College's Environmental Leadership Center, the Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes and the Simplicity Forum.
