I'm in New Zealand right now getting ready for a presentation to the 4th Annual Men in Early Childhood Summit. I'm spending time with one of the guys, Robin Christie and his wife and kids I met in Belfast, Ireland - the World Forum. I've been to New Zealand before and love the country.

Kenny Spence creates video for his song "Brother my Brother"

Kenny Spence is a tireless campaigner for the need to have more men working in childcare. He was responsible for the setting up and success of various childcare initiatives, including the hugely successful Men in Childcare Project, which has had over 900 male students undertake childcare training. The Project which started in Edinburgh expanded across Scotland and is now U.K. wide.


Reporting from Kenya

IMG_9700 The Men in ECD club was launched on 5th Sept 2009, namely the "National Champions Club For Early Childhood Care" (NACCEC). Henry Manani, MECE leadership team member from Kenya, was the chief guest and later was requested to be the patron for purposes of guidance and advice. The congregation consisted of 24 ECDE practitioners who included a few women from different training institutions. The group discussed many issues which included the recruitment of new members, advocacy, setting, moderation and marking of the ECDE teachers exams.


Networking Grant

In 2008, Lauk Woltring, along with Kenny Spence and Jan Peeters, received a networking grant from Pademelon Press in Australia to revitalize a European Men in Childcare Network.
