Windows on the World of Early Care and Education

Please note that this map is a work in progress and is constantly being updated.

Country

To access the early childhood demographics and practices of a country, either click on the country of your choice on the map (to zoom in for smaller countries, click on the appropriate continent name below the map), or select the country from the drop down menu. The content has been entered by the World Forum Global Leaders for Young Children and the World Forum National Representatives under the sponsorship of Knowledge Learning Corporation, IBM Global Work/Life Fund, and Community Playthings.

Mission

Windows on the World is an Internet-based database providing information on child demographics and early childhood policies and practices in over 100 nations of the world. Data on nations is continually being added and updated.

History

At the 2006 meeting of the Global Leaders for Young Children in Reggio Emelia Italy, the Global Leaders proposed the idea of having an online database where early childhood educators could go to learn about early childhood conditions and practices in all nations of the world. Later that year, funding by the IBM Global Work/Life Fund and Knowledge Learning Corporation enabled the World Forum Foundation to create this web feature and its supporting database. Currently Global Leaders and World Forum National Representatives are entering data about early childhood policies and practices in their countries.

Organizations interested in sponsoring the photo tour, or individuals interested in contributing country profiles should direct inquiries to info@WorldForumFoundation.org.
